FAQ's
Is there a charge for an open records request?
Yes. The City of Grand Junction charges $41.37 per hour for public records requests that require more than one hour of staff time, in accordance with C.R.S. § 24-72-205(6), City Resolution No. 36-17, and the City’s Open Records Policy.
A cost estimate will be provided in advance, outlining the expected time needed to search for, retrieve, review, redact, assemble, and transmit the records. If the estimate exceeds $50, a 50% deposit is required before work begins.
The response timeline is paused until the deposit is received, and all fees must be paid in full before the records are released. Charges for staff time are non-refundable, even if no responsive records are identified or produced.
